The father of Atenean student Christian Xavier “Xavi” Algenio reported that his son is now with them after losing contact with him on Monday.
Dennis Algenio on Wednesday, October 25 past midnight posted the hashtag “#XaviAtHome” on Facebook.
Television host and columnist Jing Castañeda also informed her followers that Xavi had been found by his family and is now with them at their home.
“Nakauwi na po sa kanyang bahay si Xavi. Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nag-share ng post na ‘to para mahanap si Xavi. Safe na po siya ngayon kasama ang kanyang pamilya. Let’s continue to pray for everyone’s safety!” she wrote as an update to her previous post.
Previously, Facebook user BaNjo Javier relayed a message from Dennis who sought help to reach Marikina authorities as “there was a trace report that his sim tablet was active this morning.”
“Verification underway. We think he might be staying in a hotel/motel/inn,” the message, posted by BaNjo on Tuesday evening, reads.
Dennis on Wednesday also confirmed to ABS-CBN News that his son has returned.
“Umuwi na po siya. He is happily sleeping. Kararating lang namin sa bahay,” he said on early October 25.
Dennis added that he has yet to talk to his son about what happened but said that Xavi could have been facing pressure at school and at home.
The patriarch said that Xavi has been winning awards in international math tournaments.
“He just needed to be by himself,” Dennis added.
He also extended his gratitude to those who helped them find his son by sharing posts and contacting authorities.
Reports said the Quezon City Police District had formed a tracker team to search for the student after he was reported missing.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said that the QCPD traced the establishments and places that Xavi last went.
“Inatasan na rin natin ang mga kaukulang ahensiya ng lokal na pamahalaan na ibigay ang lahat ng kailangang tulong sa pamilya ni Xavi,” she said in a statement.
Castañeda previously said Xavi was last spotted in UP Town Center on Monday afternoon.
