Content creator Sassa Gurl has once again won the hearts of the local internet, this time, for her funeral-inspired Halloween costume.

Sassa and other celebrities graced the second edition of GMA’s Halloween party called the Sparkle Spell 2023 on Sunday, October 22.

Amid the costumes of popular TV and movie characters, the TikTok star portrayed a relatable part of local culture—the bouquet of funeral flowers.

Pictures from GMA News showed Sassa covered in them while wearing red heels. Her hair was styled with a large, white sash draped down her body.

The text in the sash reads: “Condolences. From: Congressman.”

Sassa later saw GMA’s official photos of her costume and poked fun at it on Facebook.

“Mag attendance ah! May pa-raffle ng libreng embalsamo. Yung lugaw bawal umulit. Dumating na yung flowers ni Cong,” she posted.

Sassa’s look was designed by Filipino label East of Eden and Ian Rey.

Through Instagram Stories, Ian earlier shared that the concept for this outfit was inspired by a model and DJ named Xtina Superstar, who wore a funeral flower bouquet ensemble back in 2018.

Sassa’s hair-and-makeup artist was her “Drag Den” Season 1 co-star Aries Night.

Aries also uploaded a video of Sassa strutting the sidewalk with her full costume on.

“Laro,” she said while tagging Sassa’s official X account.

Sassa received the “Stars of the Night” award for her costume at the 2023 Sparkle Spell party.

Several Filipinos, meanwhile, described that her attire “ate” and “slayed” among the rest.

“How she ate them all up,” an X user said.

“Girl, slay,” an X user also commented.

Some Facebook users also lauded Sassa for the concept.

“Very creative,” a Facebook user commented with clap emojis.

Sassa also stole the spotlight during last year’s Halloween party for dressing up as an “online seller.”
