An amusement park’s advisory of its closure on a weekend for a “private event” anew earned various jokes from online Filipinos.
Star City on Monday, October 16 announced that the park will not be open to the public on Sunday, October 22 due to an exclusive event.
It did not give further details.
“Thank you for your understanding,” the amusement park said in a Facebook post.
Star City’s post has amassed 8,000 likes and reactions, 16,000 shares and 1,600 comments so far.
Most Filipinos took it as an opportunity to joke that they had “booked” the whole amusement part for their own private event.
“Happy birthday [redacted]. Grabe friend natin, [redacted],” a Facebook user commented, tagging his Facebook friends with a laughing emoji.
“Birthday ko po kasi ‘yan,” another user quipped with emojis of a cake and a grinning face.
“It’s an honor to occupy this park for my Birthday celebration. Thank you, Star City!” commented a different user.
“Dami ko kasi kaagaw sa rides kaya nirentahan ko muna buong Star City,” another Pinoy wrote, tagging a Facebook friend.
Other comments below the post featured some users mentioning the hastags “AfniFamilyDay,” “#Afnimazing,” “#AFNI” or “#AFNIFamilyDay.”
Typing the phrase “AFNI” and “Star City” together on Facebook yields posts of workers of the Afni Philippines going to the amusement park on October 22.
Posts also include people promoting their shuttle service to Afni workers to the Pasay-based park.
Star City previously made headlines for a similar park advisory last March.
