Is this budget airline a fan of The Killers?

A Twitter user on Monday shared a screenshot featuring an advisory from Cebu Pacific‘s webpage on flight bookings.

She noticed that some lyrics of the American rock band’s first single could be read in the text.

“Haha hello sa (web) developer ng @CebuPacificAir page. #MrBrightSide,” Jean Mitchelle tweeted.

Based on her screenshot, the following text was uploaded on the webpage:

Internet bookings are not permitted within 59 minutes from the scheduled time of departure. If you wish to travel within this time, you may contact our Call Center at +632-8702-0888 to check the availability on your preferred flight. These bookings can only be done through our airport sales counters or sales offices. Logging on this page and I’ve been doing just fine. Gotta edit this down because I own a PBI. How did it end up like this? This is only a test, this is only a test.

The specific part from the advisory containing some of the lyrics are as follows:

Logging on this page and I’ve been doing just fine. Gotta edit this down because I own a PBI. How did it end up like this? This is only a test, this is only a test.

Meanwhile, these are the actual lyrics of the song’s verse:

I’m coming out of my cage, and I’ve been doing just fine
Gotta, gotta be down because I want it all
It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss

The incident caught the attention of the budget airline which responded to Jean twice.

The first response appeared to be an auto-reply: “Hi Jean Mitchelle. For further assistance and the security of your personal information, you may send the details of your concern thru:m.me/cebupacificair. Stay safe.”

At the latter part of the day, the budget airline wrote another response: “Hello Jean Mitchelle. Thank you for letting us know. This was forwarded to relevant team for checking. Stay safe!”

Mr. Brightside” was released in 2003 as The Killer’s debut single from their first studio album, “Hot Fuss.”

The Rolling Stone magazine in 2021 categorized the track under its list of “500 Best Songs of All Time.”

An online music publication in 2019 also categorized the song as one of the “Top 10 karaoke songs Filipinos love to sing.”
