A post by a Facebook page pretending to be of comedian Willie Revillame is a fraudulent online scam.

Claim: Outgoing Sen. Manny Pacquiao will give cash aid to individuals who will give personal details in the comment section of a post circulating on Facebook groups including “Tutok To Win Live (Wowowin).”

A fake Facebook page bearing the name and photo of TV host Willie Revillamé posted that Pacquiao will give early Christmas gifts of cash assistance to anyone who will share their personal information on Facebook.

The post, which has a picture of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr, says:

“Sa lahat ng mga naka online ngayun ay swertre po kayu dahil mag bibigay ako sa bawat tao na naka online at maka messa sa akinn dapat naka like and share po kayu.”

The post has a cropped photo of Marcos and instructs Facebook users to comment down their full name, contact number, and address.

Rating: The Facebook post is fake and is just a fraudulent online scheme.

Facts

The posts are not true as both Pacquiao and Marcos did not put out such a statement. There’s also no official document or report that announces a plan to give cash aid to anyone who shares their personal information.

The text used in both the caption and the uploaded photo were also not properly formatted and bears the wrong spelling of Filipino words “swerte,” “kayo,” “ngayon,” among others.

Why it matters

The Facebook group “Tutok To Win Live (Wowowin)” where the fake post was uploaded is public and has 230,000 members.

Some Filipinos are falling for the fake post and are disclosing phone numbers names and home addresses in the comment section of the post.
