A local yoga studio announced the closure of its branches in Metro Manila after a decade of service due to the still-raging COVID-19 pandemic.
In its statement on Wednesday, the management of yoga studio called I Go Beyond Yoga bid goodbye to their loyal customers and students, saying the health crisis pushed them “beyond limits.”
The establishment was founded in 2011.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the end of operations for Beyond Yoga. With your help, we managed to stay afloat for a little over a year through digital classes,” the studio said.
“Unfortunately, this pandemic has pushed us beyond our limits,” the announcement added.
Beyond Yoga then expressed heartfelt gratitude to the “yoga family” it has nurtured in its studios over the years.
“We are grateful for all the years we have shared with you in our QC, Serendra, Greenhills, Alabang and Rockwell studios. There have been many friendships and memories born and nurtured within our studio walls,” it said.
“As each chapter has an ending, we are hopeful for a new one to come, in the near future. For now, we thank you for being a part of our family, and we hope to see you again soon,” the studio added.
It concluded the farewell message with the Sanskrit greeting “Namaste,” which means “bowing to you.”
“Always be safe and healthy. Namaste,” they wrote.
Their students and customers later took to social media to lament their shutdown.
“Another casualty of the pandemic: Beyond Yoga announced its end of operations,” a Twitter user said.
“This is sad news. I met so many amazing people in your studios. And I considered it as one of my happy places in Manila, because Manila to me was often a black hole. Good luck to the teachers and staff and thank you so much for all the kindness, support and encouragement you’ve given to all your students,” a Facebook user wrote.
“This is the place where I started to practice. Really sad to see it go. All the best to the teachers and staffers,” one online user commented.
Beyond Yoga’s digital classes can still be availed through their website.
It also holds free yoga classes through its Facebook page.
“Our physical studios may be closed but that won’t stop us from holding space for you. We have partnered with your favorite brands to bring you FREE LIVE yoga classes via our Facebook page. Tune in at facebook.com/igobeyondyoga,” the website read.
The yoga studio joined other long-running private businesses and companies that were forced to shut down their physical stores due to the financial impact of the health crisis.
