Imee Marcos on Princeton degree: ‘As far as I know, I graduated’

Imee Marcos insisted she graduated from Princeton University even after a representative of the Ivy League school has clarified she did not.

Marcos said that, “as far as she knew,” she graduated and her official biography on Facebook claims she was among the first female graduates of Princeton University.

“Pumasok ako sa Princeton at sa pagkakaalam ko, nag-graduate ako,” the late dictator’s daughter said in a News5’s interview.

representative of the university told Interaksyon otherwise. Rather than an undergraduate degree, she received an Independent Concentration in Religion and Politics.

“Hindi ko kilala ‘yung spokesperson na ‘yun… kaya aalamin ko,” she previously said.

Marcos then went on and said that what matters is her “politics of performance.”

“Pumasok din ako sa University of the Philippines katulad po ninyo. Alam natin na ang importante rito, sino ‘yung nakakapag-deliver ng performance at higit sa lahat ng track record,” she said.

Her attainment as a cum laude graduate of UP College of Law was also debunked as mere fabrication.

UP Vice President Teodoro Herbosa disclosed that Marcos did not finish any undergraduate program from the country’s premier university.

Similar to her stay in Princeton, Marcos took non-degree courses at the UP College of Law and at the College of Arts and Sciences, based on the school’s registrar office.

Last December, Marcos was asked a direct question in another interview regarding her educational background at Princeton.

The question was: “Ma’am, once and for all, saan po ba talaga tayo nagtapos ng kolehiyo, sa Princeton University po ba talaga?”

She avoided giving a direct answer and instead referred to her brother, Bongbong Marcos whose scholastic records were also proven false.

Her educational background came under scrutiny after an unverified picture of her supposed credentials at Princeton went viral in 2018. The photo showed that she got failing marks on most of the subjects she took.
