Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore praised the award-winning Filipino group TNT boys in a teaser video clip she shared for an upcoming talent competition called “The World’s Best.”
The trio, Keifer Sanchez, Mackie Empuerto, and Francis Concepcion, are among the contestants of the new show to be aired on February 3.
In the short sneak peek, the TNT boys performed their popular rendition of “Listen” and amazed the judges.
This was first sung in an episode of ABS-CBN’s “Gandang Gabi Vice” in 2017 wherein they engaged in a sing-off as individual singers.
“I have a soft spot for kids. I was a kid performer. I have kids now. This is a whole other thing. You possess a gift. You’re just that good!” Barrymore said.
Barrymore started acting as a child in films like “E.T.” in 1982. Her other popular movies include “Charlie’s Angels” in 2000, “The Wedding Singer” in 1998 and “Grey Gardens” in 2009. She currently stars in a Netflix series “Santa Clarita Diet.”
The two other judges in the panel, celebrity drag performer RuPaul and recording artist Faith Hill, also stood up and enjoyed the TNT Boys’ performance.
Before this, the boys’ singing talent had already caught the attention of the Bee Gees and TV host Steve Harvey.
In 2018, they won the first prize in the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” competition through their amazing execution of Ariana Grande’s hit “Bang Bang.”
Aside from the TNT boys, veteran singer Pops Fernandez was also invited to be part of the show’s “Wall of the World” comprising 50 international judges.
The new US show will be hosted by English TV host and actor James Corden.
The first episode will be aired on February 3, 2019.
