The historical epic is the company’s first mark in Philippine cinema.

It was also shared by the official social media accounts of the movie.

It was the first of a trilogy that TBS Studios will produce on Philippine historical figures.

Last September, Tarog released the sequel “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” which is about Gregorio “Goyo” del Pilar’s life and his fatal battle of Tirad Pass.

Before this, there are only three Filipino shows that can be streamed on Netflix, namely, an indie drama “Birdshot,” the series “Amo,” and “Metro Manila,” which also stars John Arcilla.

The news immediately stoked many Filipinos on social media, saying that it’s about time for Filipinos overseas to watch the box-office biopic.

Tarog’s “Heneral Luna” tells the story of short-tempered revolutionist General Antonio Luna, played by Filipino actor John Arcilla, who fought against the treachery of his own countrymen during the Philippine-American war.

It was released in cinemas nationwide in September 2015.

In 2016, it earned many awards from the Film Academy of the Philippines and the Gawad Urian Awards.

These include the titles best director for Tarog and best picture for the production itself.
