Outside of his tedious work performing in gigs and doing recording, singer Nyoy Volante is a competitive baller.
Aside from serenading us with his hit songs, Volante also loves to play basketball.
Volante plays for Dent United in the 38-and-under division of the LGR Hoops Season 4 and rivals from different teams have taken notice at the singer’s hoops skills.
“He plays smoothly. If he plays his guitar smoothly, that’s how he plays the game. Really smooth,” said Eric Uy, point guard of the RL Team playing in the Corporate Division of this event sponsored by Bugsy’s, Rain or Shine, Petron, Titan, NBA Store, Gatorade, BTV, Golds Gym, Zarks Burger, Kartilya, SYF and Ybalai.
Aldrin Alejo, resident photographer of LGR Hoops, said Volante is competitive as a player.
“He plays the shooting guard spot. He’s a decent shooter,” added Alejo.
Volante isn’t the only celebrity player seeing action in the LGR Hoops Season 4.
League commissioner Ariel Serrantes told InterAksyon that Boom Labrusca, who appeared in That’s Entertainment, Gimik, Codename: Asero and Nagsimula Sa Puso among others, also plays competitively for Chiba in the Novice Plus Division.
“Nyoy and Boom can really compete against some of the best players in the league,” said Serrantes. “They know their basketball.”
Labrusca plays the combo guard spot for Chiba, which made it to the playoffs of LGR Hoops Season 4.
