Star and GlobalPort swapped their newly acquired rookies just hours after the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft concluded on Sunday.

Robbie Herndon, selected sixth overall by GlobalPort Batang Pier, was shipped to the Star Hotshots in exchange for ninth pick Lervin Flores and second round picks Joseph Gabayni and Julian Sargent.

“This is a good trade as this will cover all of GlobalPort’s weak spots. Mapi-fill out na yung nga butas namin,” said a highly-placed source who requested anonymity.

Another source said the deal was initiated by Star, which was impressed with the performance of Hendon in the recent Rookie Draft Combine.

“He’s another probable stretch four player, something which Star coach Chito Victolero likes to have,” added another source.

Hendon will be a welcome addition to the Hotshots’ frontline which lost some firepower after giving away Allein Maliksi to the Blackwater Elite.

For GlobalPort, acquiring Flores, a forward, Gabayni, a center, and Sargent, a small forward, will give the team players who can complement their explosive guards in Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle.
