Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas got a reality check after falling short against Sareyyet Ramallah of Palestine, 89-82, in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup Saturday at Chenzhou Sports Center in China.

Kiefer Ravena once again paced the Philippines with 24 points, three rebounds and three assists. Jeron Teng made up for his dismal one-point production last outing, scoring 28 points and six boards.

However, their productions weren’t enough to duplicate a rousing victory against BC Astana of Kazakhstan last Friday.

Import Isaiah Austin tallied 13 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks. But he wasn’t 100 percent as a foot injury he suffered after the first half limited his impact on the floor.

Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas struggled from the three-point area, only making five out of its 28 shots. The Palestine club on the other hand was on-target for the entire game, going 10-for-26 from that area.

Sareyyet Ramallah took advantage of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas’ sluggish game and took control of the game. Its lead stood as high as 14, 64-50, in the third frame.

But Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas had one last run in them, coming to within four points, 73-69, with 5:34 left after an 8-0 run.

However, Sareyyet Ramallah responded with two straight triples to take the fight out of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas.

The Philippine team, now 1-1, will next take on Mono Vampire of Thailand on Sunday.
