The Star Hotshots broke out of a three-game slump after cruising to a 109-83 victory over the GlobalPort Batang Pier in the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Import Malcolm Hill registered 32 points, 12 rebounds and five assists while Ian Sangalang made his presence felt with 17 points and 10 rebounds in the dominant win by Star which never relinquished the lead.

The win put an end to the Hotshots’ skid which they suffered following a 4-0 start to the tournament. With the result, Star (5-3) joined a three-team logjam with San Miguel and Rain or Shine in the middle of the team standings.

The Hotshots also did a great defensive job on Terrence Romeo who was limited 11 points on 3-for-16 shooting to go along with his eight assists.

Murphy Holloway had 20 points and 17 boards for the Batang Pier (3-6) who slid to the danger zone after losing their third straight game.
