With 75 years of basketball experience combined, brothers Joel and Koy Banal continue to share their knowledge to aspiring coaches in the country.
Just recently, the brothers, with the help of their D-league team, Marinerong Pilipino, resumed their “Coach To Coach, Coast To Coast” project, this time with the aspirants from San Fernando, Camarines Sur as the beneficiary of their coaching workshop.
This was made possible by San Fernando Mayor Fermin Mabulo and Sports Director Cyrus Santelices.
Joel, the elder Banal, is one among the few coaches to win championships in the collegiate ranks (Mapua and Ateneo), the PBL (Casino Rubbing Alcohol and Ateneo-Hapee) and the PBA (Talk N Text).
His younger brother, Koy, is also no stranger to winning, becoming part of the collegiate champion teams PSBA and Far Eastern University and was part of champion teams in the PBA as an assistant coach with Purefoods and Petron.
The brothers are cherishing the opportunity of being together in one team for the first time since they worked with the Pasig Pirates in the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association.
Participants of the coaching workshop received their certificate from the organizers of the event.
