Facing the defending champions Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings in their next game will be a good test on how far the NLEX Road Warriors have developed as a solid team.

On Sunday, the Road Warriors continued their winning run in the Oppo PBA Governors Cup after going 4-0 to start the conference.

“The elite teams are coming up. We’re going to face the elite teams. Let’s see how we fare against them,” said Guiao whose Road Warriors squad will take on the Gin Kings on Saturday at Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan.

“Our next game is Ginebra. I guess that’s really a good measure of what kind of a team we really are. We’re still riding on the run. We’re still able to sustain it. Let’s see how far it will take us. But the signs are encouraging.”

Despite NLEX now sitting on top of the standings, Guiao said he still doesn’t know if his squad is for real.

“We have four wins, but, hindi ko pa rin alam kung totoo ito or kunya-kunyarian lang ito,” he said. “Tingnan natin kung totoo ito or nagpapanggap lang kami. Pero maganda naman yung senyales. Tingnan natin sa next games.”

Guiao added that the four wins prepared NLEX in its matchups against the tournament’s big dogs.

“It’s also good that before you face the big dogs, you face the lesser big dogs, not the contenders like Ginebra or San Miguel, or even Star and TNT. This is going to prepare us for that,” he said.
