James Yap expressed relief as he was finally able to shake off the pressure that came with his attempt to join the elite 10,000 points club in the PBA.
The former two-time MVP breached the mark on Saturday to become the 15th player in PBA history to achieve the rare feat.
“Napi-pressure kasi ako kapag iniisip ko eh,” Yap told InterAksyon. “Even nung nalaman ko na three points na lang yung kulang ko, ang dami kaagad nagsasabi sa akin congratulations. Pero ang hirap pa rin.”
The 35-year-old swingman admitted he wasn’t aware at first on how prestigious his achievement was.
“Nag-research ako doon ko nakita big deal pala. Doon ko nakita bigatin pala yung mga kasama ko,” said Yap who joined legends Ramon Fernandez, Abet Guidaben, Alvin Patrimonio, Atoy Co, Nelson Asaytono, Philip Cezar, Jojo Lastimosa, Bogs Adornado, Robert Jaworski, Allan Caidic, Jerry Codinera, Benjie Paras, Francis Arnaiz and Norman Black in the club.
