LA Tenorio exploded for 29 points as Barangay Ginebra San Miguel rolled past GlobalPort Batang Pier, 124-108, to barge into the winning column in the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Tenorio also drained five triples to go along with five rebounds and four assists as the Gin Kings (1-1) registered their first win of the tournament.

Justin Brownlee added 21 points, 12 boards and four dimes as Greg Slaughter made 19 points, 10 of which came in the second quarter, and eight boards in Ginebra’s dominant win.

Ginebra pulled away in the second quarter, pouncing on the hapless GlobalPort defense with Slaughter dominating inside and Tenorio on fire from downtown. That helped the Gin Kings turn a 40-39 deficit into a 61-51 halftime lead.

During that juncture, GlobalPort was so frustrated that Stanley Pringle and coach Franz Pumaren got into a heated exchange during a timeout. They patched up their differences right before the second half started, but that did little to the Batang Pier’s attempts to stage a comeback.

The Gin Kings juggernaut continued in the third quarter where they built a commanding 93-76 edge which they never relinquished.

Murphy Holloway tallied 36 points and 18 boards while Terrence Romeo had 25 points, five rebounds and nine assists for GlobalPort (1-2).
