Rookie RR Pogoy put up his best game in his young PBA career so far, scoring a career-high 27 points including 13 in the fourth period to help TNT KaTropa draw first blood against the San Miguel Beermen in the Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals.

Pogoy also made five out of nine triples to go along with three steals for a complete all-around performance.

Despite his stellar outing, Pogoy refused to take all the credit and instead thanked superstar teammate Jayson Castro for guiding him.

“Laking pasalamat ko kay Kuya Jayson. Kung hindi dahil sa mga pasa niya, hindi rin ako makaka-shoot eh,” Pogoy told InterAksyon.

“Sini-set up niya kami, siya talaga yung court general namin. Kaya nagawa namin yung gusto naming gawin.”

Castro had a near triple-double performance in Game One, finishing with 14 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

Pogoy has been consistent all conference long, something which TNT coach Nash Racela has been used to seeing from the versatile guard.

“Did he play well today? I think what I got from Roger today is his normal game we were getting all along. Maybe it was extra special because he scored a lot, 27, but his defense was crucial and that’s something we always require of him. Today, he was blessed to hit three-pointers and that’s part of his arsenal,” Racela said.
