Star Hotshots coach Chito Victolero remained upbeat despite his team’s narrow 77-76 loss to the San Miguel Beermen in Game Two of the Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.

“Sabi ko nga sa mga players ko, we have a chance, pero hindi nabigay sa atin,” Victolero told sportswriters. “But they only tied the series. I’m positive and confident on our chances.”

He said that he was happy with Star’s performance in the last two quarters where the Hotshots were able to erase a 16-point deficit and make it a tight encounter down the stretch.

“Yung positive doon yung second half namin,” Victolero added. “I’m very happy with the defense. I’m very happy with the aggressiveness ng mga players ko. Yung execution namin on both ends.”

In Game 2, the Hotshots were able to engage the Beermen in a low-scoring game–something which Victolero believes works on Star’s favor.

“Pasok yung game sa gusto naming mangyari,” he said. “We have a chance pero hindi lang namin na-maximize sa dulo. Pero at least meron kaming chance. We limited them to 33 points in the second half. Pasok doon sa goal namin.

“Low-scoring game. We’re very comfortable with that. That’s our game.”
