Kobe Paras leads the new recruits of the Philippine national men’s basketball team pool which is gearing up for several major tournaments this year.

Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes announced on Twitter that Paras, who is set to represent the country in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup next week, will be attending the squad’s resumption of practice on June 20.

Apart from the son of PBA legend Benjie Paras, also reinforcing the Gilas rookies are Kiefer Ravena, Reymar Jose and Christian Standhardinger, a 6’7″ Filipino-German who is based in Germany.

Paras earlier expressed his intentions to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in August.

He recently transferred from Creighton University to California State University, Northridge. But as he needs to sit out for one year, Paras will have more time to play for the national team.

Paras is a big boost to the Gilas rookies whom Reyes plans to parade in the SEA Games as the PBA veterans are expected to see action in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup which is also scheduled in August.
