The Philippine national youth basketball team thumped Indonesia, 96-73, to register its second straight win in the SEABA Under-16 Championship on Monday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
McLaude Guadana notched a triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists to pace Batang Gilas whose biggest lead stood at 36 points.
Recaredo Calimag added 17 points and two boards while Kai Sotto tallied 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks for the superior Filipinos.
Batang Gilas nailed the win despite having a subpar second half. After leading 58-28 at the half, the young Filipinos were outscored by their Indonesian counterparts, 45-38, in the last two quarters.
Batang Gilas will take a breather on Tuesday before clashing with Thailand on Wednesday.
The Filipinos are the heavy favorites in the tournament, and are expected to sweep the five-game competition for its fourth straight title.
