The Philippine national youth basketball team got off to a rousing start to its SEABA U-16 Championship campaign, walloping Singapore, 108-42, on Sunday afternoon at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
6-foot-11 star Kai Sotto towered for Batang Gilas, finishing with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Rence Padrigao also scored 14 points, six rebounds and four steals.
Three-time champions Batang Gilas will next face Indonesia on Monday.
The top three teams after the end of the four-game round-robin will qualify for the FIBA Asia U-16 Championship.
