Did tennis star Alex Eala really “donate” her prize money and sponsorships to a homeless shelter in Metro Manila?

Claims

Some social media pages have been sharing posts claiming that the tennis sensation gave her “entire $15.9 million prize money and sponsorships to the typhoon-hit ‘Onward Home’ Homeless Shelter.”

The posts also included quotes attributed to Alex, saying: “I saw firsthand the effects of homelessness as a child, and I know what it would be like if I could afford it. No one should have to sleep on the sidewalk.”

One Facebook post about this has earned 202,000 likes and reactions, 16,700 comments, and 10,000 shares.

Facts

There are no legitimate reports that Alex has donated her prize money and sponsorships to Onward Home.

The Filipina tennis wonder is currently aiming for her second Women’s Tennis Association crown at the 2025 Jingshan Tennis Open.
