There is no record of senatorial aspirant Imee Marcos graduating from the University of the Philippines Diliman and she also does not appear in the College of Law section of the 1983 yearbook.

A GMA News Online report Friday quoted university Executive Vice President Teodoro Herbosa as saying: “There is no record of her graduation from UPD nor any honors or academic distinctions received with the University Registrar’s office.”

Herbosa also indicated that Marcos took non-degree courses from 1976 to 1977 at the College of Arts and Sciences before she took courses at the College of Law from 1979 to 1983.

The official Facebook page of Imee Marcos previously posted photos supposedly showing her attending her graduation cum laude from the UP College of Law in 1983.

“Wala siya sa Philippinensian, not on the UP College of Law section, and not anywhere else on the yearbook,” Bernardo said in a post.

Imee Marcos, the daughter of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, previously posted on her official Facebook page photos which show her attendance at the graduation ceremony in 1983.

The caption said: “The ceremonies were held at Meralco Theater where her parents—former President Ferdinand E. Marcos and former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos—pinned her cum laude medal.”

The Philippine Daily Inquirer and Rappler previously invalidated Marcos’ claims that she earned a degree at the country’s premier university.

Columnist Madrileña de la Cerna’s graduation for her master’s degree at UP was in the same year as when Marcos was enrolled there. She shared that people back then knew that she couldn’t graduate because the Ilocos Norte governor lacked 35 units.
