Some Filipinos pointed to what they said were repeated road incidents involving a ride-hailing e-taxi operator after another crash involving one of its drivers.
A Green and Smart Mobility (GSM) e-taxi reportedly collided with a sedan and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on the afternoon of Sunday, July 5, in Barangay Ugong, Pasig City.
The crash temporarily disrupted traffic in the area.
Dashcam footage from the SUV showed the e-taxi rear-ending the SUV before crashing into the sedan.
The impact caused the e-taxi to overturn and land upside down.
Passengers from the three vehicles involved underwent medical evaluation following the incident, although none sustained serious injuries.
Meanwhile, reports of the crash drew attention as GSM’s e-taxi service continues to gain popularity as an alternative ride-hailing option for commuters.
“Ano bang meron sa mga drivers ng Green GSM? Or sa kotse ba? Sunod-sunod na eh,” Maginhawa food community president Jules Guiang said.
“Pangalawa na itong Green Taxi na nakita ko na nawalan ng brake,” another online user commented.
“Parang nakakailan na ‘tong GSM lately,” a different Pinoy said.
“VinFast nanaman? Dude! Pang-ilan na nila ‘to,” another commented, referring to the e-taxi’s brand of vehicle used in its operations.
Others shared their own experiences riding the e-taxi service.
“May nasakyan akong Green GSM, marami talagang aksidente sa mga unit nila. ‘Yung iba daw kasi ginagamit ‘yung sports mode kahit ‘di kabisado,” another Pinoy commented.
Last May, a GSM e-taxi collided with eight motorcycles at the corner of 20th Avenue and Aurora Boulevard. One of the motorcycles became lodged beneath the e-taxi’s front bumper.
Several riders and their passengers were thrown onto the road following the collission.
In a separate incident that same month, an e-taxi driver was apprehended along Panay Avenue in Quezon City for reckless driving and disregarding traffic signs after nearly hitting a Land Transportation Office mobile patrol vehicle while changing lanes without signaling.
The driver also allegedly attempted to evade authorities.
In November 2025, an e-taxi driver had his driver’s license temporarily suspended after being involved in a hit-and-run incident along Alabang-Zapote Road in Las Piñas City.
GSM is the country’s first all-electric taxi and ride-hailing service, offering commuters an alternative to other ride-hailing platforms.
The company also provides drivers a more accessible way to earn income amid high vehicle costs, fuel expenses and uncertain boundary arrangements through its “RENTAPASADA” program.
Instead of requiring drivers to purchase a vehicle outright, the program offers a rental-based entry point that allows them drive a VinFast electric vehicle without having to buy a unit before earning.
Drivers are also meet program requirements, including a professional driver’s license, clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation or from the police, a medical certificate, a drug test and a TIN.
