The head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has expressed support behind an interreligious rally to call for measures against corruption and political dynasties.

Archbishop Gilbert Garcera, CBCP president, described the “White Ribbon March” set on June 28 at the EDSA People Power Monument as a non-partisan expression of concern for justice and integrity.

“Those who, guided by their conscience and local circumstances, wish to participate in this peaceful gathering may do so prayerfully and respectfully,” Garcera said in a pastoral message issued June 22.

He urged the faithful to remain steadfast despite widespread concerns over corruption, injustice and declining public trust in institutions.

“Let us not lose hope,” he said, calling on Catholics to draw strength from worship and prayer amid social challenges.

Garcera also underscored the central role of the Eucharist in moral renewal, saying, “The power of the Eucharist renews hearts and transforms lives, enabling us to become instruments of justice, reconciliation, and hope.”

He further cited the nationwide pilgrimage of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe as a source of spiritual guidance and protection, praying that she “intercede for our people, guide our leaders, and lead us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.”

Organizers said the rally, led by the Inter-Religious Leaders Council for National Transformation, aims to mobilize public support for electoral reforms while raising concern over entrenched governance problems, including corruption and political dynasties.

At the EDSA site, organizers expect at least 10,000 participants for the demonstration, which they said builds on last year’s “Trillion Peso March” protests and events marking the 40th anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution on Feb. 25.
