The father of a minor female student in Jagobiao, Mandaue City plans to file a complaint against her daughter’s ex-boyfriend who slammed her head against a classroom blackboard due to jealousy.
Videos of the incident circulated on social media, which featured a 19-year-old male student grabbing a 17-year-old old female student’s hair and then slamming her towards a blackboard.
She immediately fell to the floor, which led another nearby male schoolmate to throw punches against the male student who had hurt the girl.
A brawl ensued when the first male student retaliated.
School Principal Rene Petancio said that the fight happened shortly after the high school students entered their classroom after the flag ceremony at around 7:30 a.m. on November 6.
He said that the assigned teacher was on emergency leave at that time, based on another report.
The female student’s father said that while he has agreed to settle, he is still planning to file a police complaint against the ex-boyfriend for what the latter did to his daughter.
The patriarch said they would send her for a medical examination to make sure she did not suffer major internal injuries following the assault.
Her father also said that his daughter told him the ex-boyfriend allegedly got jealous after she posted a picture on her social media with a boy in the background.
Jealousy
Petancio said that the brawling students were separately called to the school’s Senior High Coordinator’s Office when they learned of the incident. Their parents were also separately called as well.
The school head said that the fight erupted because the first male student — the female student’s boyfriend — was jealous.
Petancio said that the second male student was not aware of the two’s relationship and had only wanted to get revenge for his classroom.
The first male student is expected to be called anew to discuss his suspension, which the principal said is part of their disciplinary action as punishment for the violence committed.
Petancio said the male student had not returned to school since the incident, while the victim continued attending her classes.
Meanwhile, reports said the Department of Education – Region 7 office is already investigating the incident.
