The hashtag “#FindXavi” was launched on social media following reports of the disappearance of a senior high school student from Ateneo de Manila University.
Television host and columnist Jing Castañeda on Tuesday, October 24 raised awareness about the disappearance of Christian Xavier “Xavi” Algenio, a 16-year-old student who was last seen at the UP Town Center on Monday, 4:30 p.m.
She said that Xavi was wearing eyeglasses, white shirt, blue or dark gray shorts and gray rubber shoes. He was also carrying a gray backpack.
Jing shared cellphone numbers that the public can contact in case they have any information about Xavi. These can be seen in her post.
“Nakikiusap din po tayong huwag magpadala ng scam text messages sa cell numbers na ito. Seryosong problema po ito kaya’t seryoso at kumpirmadong mga impormasyon lamang po ang ipadala natin. Please share this post and let’s include Xavi and his family in our prayers,” she said.
Elisa Naval, another Facebook user, claimed that Xavi “had his hair cut really short and might possibly wear a baseball cap.”
She said that the student was “last spotted around 5:30 p.m. yesterday, October 23, near the vicinity of Bruno’s at UPTC.”
Bruno’s could refer to Bruno’s Barbers, a barber shop located on the ground floor of the shopping center along Katipunan Avenue in Diliman, Quezon City.
“Thank you for your continued efforts in trying to determine his whereabouts. #FindXavi,” Elisa wrote.
Market analyst John Paul Tanyag also shared a screengrab of a Facebook post of Xavi’s father seeking help.
“Let us #FindXavi. Pls. share,” John said.

However, Elise said that Mr. Algenio’s Facebook post “has been taken down due to numerous false leads and intent without merit.”
TV5’s News5 also shared a missing person poster of Xavi, along with cellphone numbers which the public can contact for relevant information.
Apart from Xavi, the public is also looking for Miss Grand Philippines 2023 bet Catherine Camilon, who has been missing since October 12.
