Vice President Leni Robredo debunked a Facebook post claiming that she will “resign” if not one of the senatorial aspirants under the Otso Diretso slate would make it to the “Magic 12” roster.
She shared a screenshot of the post and appealed to the public to continue the fight against disinformation.
“Not true. Let’s continue fighting disinformation. Report peddlers of fake news,” Robredo wrote on Twitter.

The particular post alleged that Robredo said the following: “If no one among the Otso Diretso will win the election, I will step down as vice president.”
However, there are no reports or interviews of her saying the particular statement.
The post also included a picture of her that was originally taken from a local news website, where Robredo was talking to reporters. Its exact date and event cannot be determined since the website listed it as a “file photo.”
As of this writing, Comelec’s partial unofficial tally reveals that administration-backed senatorial aspirants are dominating the “Magic 12.”
Meanwhile, some members of Otso Diretso have conceded following the ongoing tally of the elections.
Despite the opposition coalition’s loss, Robredo urged the Filipinos to unite for the sake of the nation.
“Ipinamalas ng ating mga kandidato at volunteers ang tapang at dedikasyon sa ating adhikain. Huwag natin ito bitawan. Paghugutan natin ng lakas ang bawat isa,” she said before.
“Marami pa tayong kailangan gawin at marami pa tayong magagawa. Hanggang sa huli, sama-sama tayo sa labang ito,” the Liberal Party chairpeson added.
Robredo also believed that the Otso Diretso candidates won by uniting Filipinos with similar beliefs.
“Whatever the outcome of the elections is, I think we have won—we won in uniting many people who share the same beliefs in the things that are happening in our midst,” she said.
