Love is in the air at the LRT-1 that has brought back its popular Love Train for the Valentines month. This year’s theme tackles love for the environment as its operator, Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has decorated one of the trains with colorful accents like miniature hot air balloons, faux greenery, and full-color nature photos.

According to an LRMC press statement, the idea is to make commuters feel the beauty and soothing effects of nature as well as encourage them to appreciate the importance of preserving our natural surroundings.

In this special train, and just as in past holiday themes by LRMC, it is hoped that riders would have that “feel-good” experience from it.

At the launch on February 5, Monday—and to show that love can be found even in unexpected places like busy LRT-1—LRMC representatives handed out fresh flowers to pleasantly surprised commuters.

LRMC encourages riders to share their Love Train experience on social media by using the hashtag #LRT1Love on their social media posts.

Besides its public awareness campaign via the pretty train, LRMC is also active in its Live for the Rivers Movement Coalition, an ongoing clean-up campaign launch in 2016. The project encourages local living near Estero de Tripa de Gallina, Metro Manila’s longest creek, to be responsible for the health and cleanliness of the creek. Through the project, LRMC organizes regular clean-up activities for the creek as well as provides livelihood programs for its community.
