A recent regional survey commissioned by Beringer Vineyards of Napa Valley in July this year was conducted across five countries: Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

More than one out of two Filipinos waste an average of four days of annual leave each year due to poor planning. About 70 percent of Filipinos cites work responsibilities as the main culprit, while 44 percent feel they haven’t maximized their trip because of just blindly following their friends. Interestingly, 61 percent of respondents from the Philippines even admitting that they have gone to a destination they have no interest in just because someone else was willing to plan it for them.

The survey of over 5,000 respondents across five Asian countries was commissioned to better understand attitudes towards vacation planning.

Marcus Ingleby, Regional Senior Brand Manager of Beringer Vineyards, shared, “We were shocked to find out that there’s a growing trend of Filipinos who are short changing themselves when it comes to getting the most from their hard earned annual leave.”

In response to the findings, Beringer recently launched a campaign on the world’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor, to inspire more people to do their holiday planning and to show that vacation planning as a social occasion is the way forward. The company also aims to show that a little bit of advance planning can have a huge impact on the quality of one’s vacation experience and is not difficult to do, and that “vacation planning is also always better when shared with others over a glass of wine,” added Ingleby.

The new Beringer campaign was launched in the Philippines last November 8, 2017 at an intimate dinner hosted by Beringer Vineyards together with Kathy Yao-Santos of Happy Living Fine Wines, the exclusive distributer of Beringer wines in the Philippines. The gathering was held at Toyo Eatery in Makati City. The restaurant’s chef/owner Jordy Navarra prepared a tasting menu that paired well with the wines served that night.
