You know it’s really Christmas when SM Supermalls start unveiling their giant holiday trees and present festive musical shows Filipino families will love.
On November 8, SM Megamall was among the first malls to have its yearly Christmas tree lighting ceremony and launch of its holiday campaign. At its SM Mega Fashion Hall activity area, parents and kids alike were kept in awe at a show featuring dancers with remarkable acrobatic skills.
These dancers are from Okada Manila and the show they presented, “The Enchanting Princess: A Holiday Musical Wonder” is an original production of the casino resort and directed by Giulio Scatola, a seasoned veteran of Cirque du Soleil.
In between the stunning acts involving acrobatic movements and prismatic sets, a fairy tale also weaves its way through the show. In this case, a prince promises to return to his princess after the war. The rest is a journey of adventures and struggles where the prince fights to remain true to his pledge to his love.
The mall’s 45-foot Christmas tree takes after this royal theme and has been decorated with tiaras and gems set amidst a winter-inspired background. Two 16-foot white stallions appear to guard this whimsical attraction.
