Ayala Avenue’s Christmas street lights are inspired from Philippine weaves

Makati City—Iconic local weaves are shining bright at select streets in Makati City.

To celebrate the Christmas season, leaders of Ayala Land Corporation (ALC) and Makati City recently led the street lighting ceremony that showed off glittering installations inspired from Philippine heritage weaves from various regions: Inabel and burdado from Luzon, banig tikog from Visayas, T’Boli, Ukil and Yakan weaves from Mindanao.

The whole stretch of Ayala Avenue, Paseo de Roxas, and Makati Avenue are now adorned with festive lights that are also energy efficient and courtesy of Firefly Lighting Corporation.

Makati City’s Christmas lighting ceremony and its much-anticipated unique presentations have become a tradition as well as a major attraction during this season.

Shiella Aguilar, Ayala Land Project Development Head for Makati, said in a press statement: “Christmas is the highlight of the year for Filipinos, and we always want to make it special for everyone. By mounting an exquisite Christmas display, and through the Festival of Lights, we provide venues for people to enjoy the spirit of the season.”
