Goodbye, Kitty: Netizens nostalgic over Gift Gate closing

A haven for collectors of Sanrio merchandises, Gift Gate Philippines’ last branch located in San Juan will be closing its doors by the end of the month.

An icon of Japanese popular culture, Sanrio characters including Hello Kitty, My Melody, Twin Stars, and Badz Maru won the hearts of many during the 90’s because of their cuteness. And Gift Gate has been the go-to-place to buy stationery, wallets, bags, and many other merchandise that are inspired from these irresistibly cute characters.

As the store has only a few days left, it announced a ‘closing out’ sale, which made netizens feel nostalgic and sad at the same time.

Gift Gate finally closes its doors at the end of the month. Didn’t buy things here, too expensive. Would have loved to, though.
