The Jabra Evolve 75 is the newest addition in the series and it has been described as “the best wireless headset for concentration in the open office” by its maker, Jabra. It is compatible with a wide range of devices and software including the ever popular Google Hangouts and Microsoft Skype.
Upon opening the box, you will see the case which includes the headset itself, a USB dongle that will pair the headset to your PC or Mac, and a USB cable for charging. Then, underneath the box is the headphones dock, which is also used for charging.
Upon wearing the headset and turning it on for the first time, you’ll be greeted with a power up tune plus a voice that informs the user the remaining battery life the headset has. The padded cushions are also large and comfortable to wear.
When putting the boom mic up or down, the voice will tell you if the mic is muted or not. A nice feature that leaves the user no excuses for unwanted accidents when it comes to private conversations.
Pairing the Jabra Evolve 75 with either a PC or Mac is a cinch. It’s literally plug and play. Windows 10 and MacOS Sierra will find the right drivers in a matter of seconds and after that, you’re good to go.
Pairing it with a smartphone via bluetooth is quick as well. In fact, it can be paired with both computer and phone at the same time seamlessly.
The Jabra Evolve 75 includes an Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature, which blocks off outside noise quite well, at the same time delivering a much clearer and punchier audio output. You activate the headset with a button on the bottom of the left earcup. You can also turn up the volume to as loud as you can manage with no distortion or clipping at all.
When listening to music, you can’t help but notice how well the low frequencies blends with superior clarity on the mids and highs. It was a totally enjoyable listening experience.
Using the microphone is also easy because you will hear the mic activate when you make a call or use any feature on your computer or phone that uses a microphone. The microphone is very clear when used for voice calls.
You can also use this microphone for gaming, like the newly released PC game, Argo. A Tactical Military Simulator first person shooter which makes using the mic really handy to communicate with your teammates. It works. The audio is so clear that you can actually hear gunshots whizzing on your side when under gun fire.
Battery life is also amazing. You can use the headset for 3 days straight on a single charge; listen to music 4-5 hours a day while working in the office, and continue on gaming for another 1-2 hours per gaming session.
The only hiccup that you’ll probably encounter: even though the manual says that it would work within 100 feet away from your laptop or desktop PC, the wireless signal easily gets obstructed by walls and doors. Nonetheless, the wireless feature gives freedom of movement.
Although, the Evolve Series primarily targets the business users providing them voice calls with it’s crystal clear, crisp microphone, it’s a perfect wireless headset too for the regular consumer who want’s to zone out and take advantage of the Evolve 75’s unique ANC feature.
Overall, we think this is an outstanding pair of headphones, and it lives up as advertised. It’s an excellent piece of gadget both for business and consumer use.
