As the holiday season peaks and your travel dates draw near, you can still do last-minute shopping for your baggage.
An owner and a general manager of a luggage brand’s distribution company shared tips on finding the right suitcase for your travels.
When buying travel luggage, durability, lightness, and style should be considered, according to Lot Tan, owner of Le Grand Boutique Philippines Inc., the exclusive distributor of Canadian travel brand Heys.
“It (luggage) should be durable. It should be light, and it should be stylish,” she said.
Joyce Capriso, general manager of Heys under Le Grand Boutique Philippines Inc., said travelers should assess the material used in making luggage.
She noted that baggage made of polycarbonate offers better protection for fragile items.
“It’s a much stronger material and formed na siya because it’s a hard case,” Capriso said.
Meanwhile, travelers may also opt for luggage made from Duraflex material if they prefer lighter bags.
“If you want naman na talaga namang very durable and marami kayong masisiksik at talagang ma-eexpand niyo rin siya, you go for the Duraflex material,” Capriso said.
Tan also shared that she stopped repurchasing black luggage after losing one during a trip, saying the decision was for the safety and security of her belongings.
Luggage collection
To give travelers a wider range of options, Heys recently launched its newest luggage collections.
Travelers can choose from bright, eye-catching colors in the HiLite Collection, including Flamingo Pink, Aqua Breeze, Sunburst Yellow, Coral Reef and Island Green.
The HiLite Collection features a color-matching interior with a zippered divider, buckled compression straps, zippered pockets, and 360-degree dual spinner wheels.
The brand also offers the ReNew Collection, its eco-friendly luggage line. The collection is made from 100 percent recycled PET material sourced from water bottles.
“Heys has been developing collections made from recycled and sustainable materials, including eco-friendly shells and linings,” Capriso said.
“It’s part of the brand’s ongoing efforts to promote responsible travel,” she added.
Products under the Heys Xero Elite 2.0 line are also crafted from recycled PET materials.
Shoppers can likewise purchase items from the Heys Ecotex Packing Cubes line, which are made from recycled nylon.
The brand also offers kids’ bags and suitcases, pet carriers, and other travel accessories such as luggage straps and covers.
