“Truth. Justice. Whatever.”
Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for “Supergirl,” the upcoming DC Studios film starring “House of the Dragon” breakout Milly Alcock.
The movie is scheduled to open in Philippine cinemas on June 24, 2026.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, known for “Cruella” and “I, Tonya,” “Supergirl” introduces Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, in her first standalone big-screen adventure.
The film is produced by DC Studios co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran and also features Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, Eve Ridley, and Jason Momoa.
The official teaser trailer, released Thursday, December 11 (Friday, December 12, Manila time), offers the first look at Alcock’s gritty portrayal of the Kryptonian heroine.
The teaser trailer, that also features, Krypto the dog, was also shared across DC Studios and Supergirl’s social media channels.
According to Warner Bros., the film follows Kara as she confronts a “ruthless adversary” that hits too close to home, forcing her to team up with an unlikely ally on “an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.”
During a global virtual teaser trailer launch event on Monday, December 8 (Manila time), producer Gunn said he was excited to work on “Supergirl,” revealing that he had long envisioned Alcock in the titular role.
“I said, ‘Peter, did you read this great new graphic novel, ‘Woman of Tomorrow,’ by Tom King? And how good it was and how much I loved it and what an interesting take it was on the character of ‘Supergirl.’ And I said, ‘do you know who I think she should be?'” Gunn shared.
“‘That little girl from ‘House of the Dragon,'” he added, joking that Alcock was almost “billed” that way.
Alcock, meanwhile, recalled the unexpected way she learned she had been cast. Asked how she felt after landing the role, she said she found out through an article Gunn sent her.
“Okay, I just got a text from you, and you just linked me the Deadline article. That was how I found out that I got it. No one called me and was like, you got the job,” she quipped.
Gunn clarified that he had been trying to call Alcock, who was not answering at the time.
“Supergirl” is written by Ana Nogueira and is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The movie is executive produced by Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars Winther.
Behind the scenes, Gillespie works with director of photography Rob Hardy, production designer Neil Lamont, editor Tatiana S. Riegel, costume designer Anna Sheppard, VFX supervisor Geoffrey Baumann, and composer Ramin Djawadi.
“Supergirl” opens in theaters and IMAX across North America on June 26, 2026, and internationally starting June 24, 2026.
