The warmth of red, the joy of yellow, and the vibrance of green inside homes all hint at a merry holiday season.
Even simple homes can feel festive with the right accessories from Swedish furniture brand IKEA.
Interior designer and content creator Elle Uy, along with IKEA social media manager Kit Agoncillo, shared tips on bringing the holiday spirit indoors during the “Flavors of Home Festival” held at the IKEA Store in Pasay City on November 6.
While some may find it difficult to begin decorating their homes, they can start building their preferred style by choosing just one accessory to work with.
They can also incorporate quirky pieces to add character and enhance their living spaces.
“Di ba usually, mga for many years, mahilig tayo to the minimalist colors lang like white, beige, everything. But right now, when we post mga quirky, unique shapes, colors, ayun. ‘Yun yung mga nagiging engagement ngayon,” Agoncillo said.
Furniture pieces that resemble works of art can bring a unique vibe to any space while still serving a functional purpose.
Foldable and multi-use furniture is also ideal, especially for smaller homes where maximizing space is essential.
Meanwhile, actress Dimples Romana emphasized that the design and layout of a living space reflect one’s self-expression.
“You can put different quirky things together from Ikea and make it your own expression of yourself,” she said after praising Uy and Agoncillo for demonstrating the ways to decorate the showroom.
Kitchen and dining wares
Aside from adding Christmas vibes to living spaces, sharing meals together can also elevate the holiday spirit.
The furniture brand also showcased a range of products and accessories designed to enhance the kitchen and dining experience.
“The Filipino way of celebrating the season is centered on family and food at home. IKEA wants to make it more special with our affordable kitchen and dining range,” Hervy Nicholas, the IKEA Philippines sales leader, said.
Home cooks can prepare multiple dishes at once with IKEA’s ANNONS, a five-piece stainless steel cookware set with glass lids.
For pans, the brand offers the Klippfisk sauté pan with lid, the IKEA 365+ stainless steel frying pan, and the non-stick Tagghaj frying pan.
Other options include the Hemlagad wok with lid, the Hemlagad over-stove grill pan, and the IKEA 365+ pressure cooker, perfect for versatile holiday cooking.
To protect counters and tables from hot pans, a stainless steel trivet is a practical choice.
For a festive holiday table, individuals can opt for green Pelarkaktus and gray Gladelig plates, inspired by natural colors. These can be paired with Vinterfint pieces with subtle red accents, Sandskädda in earthy tones, and gray-striped Havsgädda side plates.
For those planning to serve a cheese or dessert board, the Stolthet wood cutting board offers both style and functionality, making it a perfect addition to the dining setup.
For drinks, individuals can serve cold mango juice in an IKEA 365+ carafe with a cork stopper or enjoy red wine in a Storsint wine glass.
To make serving easier, the Råskog utility cart comes in handy for transporting extra food. Plain and patterned bowls, as well as IKEA 365+ glass containers with bamboo lids, are also available for storage and serving.
Decorations such as poinsettia potted plants, Vinterfint mixed bauble glass, and gold baubles can further elevate the holiday dining experience.
Aside from showcasing kitchen and dining setups during its festival, IKEA also held a cooking demonstration featuring social media personalities Icoy Rapadas, Grace Tanfelix and Mitch Ngo.
Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Will Ashley also joined the event, while singer Angeline Quinto and the Philharmonic Orchestra added energy to the celebration with their performances.
IKEA’s Pasay branch, the first store in the Philippines, opened in 2021.
