After nearly two decades on air, the iconic radio show “Boys’ Night Out” (BNO) on Magic 89.9 aired its last episode earlier than planned but without a proper farewell.
Originally scheduled to have their final show on Thursday, October 2, the team revealed that new station management placed them under preventative suspension, cutting short what was supposed to be their #LastNightOut. The suspension came after one of the hosts made remarks on-air earlier in the week, leading to an abrupt and unexpected end to the show’s long run.
In a series of posts on Threads, host Tin Gamboa, known on-air as Suzy, apologized to her co-hosts Slick Rick (Eric Virata) and Tony Toni (Anthony Bueno) for the turn of events, saying they deserved the chance to personally thank the listeners who stood by them for 19 years.
Gamboa had earlier announced her resignation after 17 years, citing “censorship” as one of the reasons.
Tony Toni, one of the show’s original voices, shared that he had been let go by management, with October 6 marking as his final day at the station.
“So they just took away what was supposed to be our #LastNightOut by putting us on preventative suspension for the things I said Monday evening. Essentially, @boysnightoutph’s last show on Magic 89.9 was last night. To Slick and Tones, I’m sorry for all the bombs I dropped that led to this. You both deserved a chance to say thank you to all the listeners for the last 19 years they spent with you. You both deserve the world, but instead you got this,” Gamboa wrote.
“To our listeners, I’m sorry we won’t get the chance to say a proper goodbye. But from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives. I hope you know how much you mean to all of us, and how thankful we all are for all the years you’ve stuck by us – both through the show, and as individuals. You guys allowed us to live our dream lives, and for that we will be forever grateful. #BNOForever. Thank you for all the messages of love and support. We love you all SO MUCH,” she added.
Before this, the team posted a collective statement addressed to their listeners, thanking them for building a community with BNO, a space that had become vocal, inclusive and, in later years, a safe space for many.
They also called out workplace issues behind the scenes.
“We do not condone toxic superiors, power-tripping, or division in the very workplace we called home for nearly two decades.”
Despite the abrupt sign-off, the team made it clear: this isn’t the end.
“The spirit of Boys’ Night Out continues to live on through each of you, and together we will carry it into the future. See you all soon.”
Gamboa also said this in her post.
“You haven’t seen the last of us. We’ll see you again soon,” she said.
Former host “BNO” host Sam YG, who resigned from the station in October 2023, also posted a tribute for the show and his co-hosts.

“Tonight we say goodbye to 19 years of love, friendship and good vibes,” Sam said.
“@boysnightoutph wasn’t just any show, it was part of our lives. It was a bond built amongst DJs, partners and everyone single one of you who spent your evenings listening to us. If you know, you know. @djtonytoni , @_slickrick , @tin__gamboa and @gino.quillamor, you guys are LEGENDS – the hardest working people I know! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!” he added.
“Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means we’ll miss you until we meet again. We all have a BNO story. Thank you everyone for being part of history.
End of an era,” he also said.
