Pizza lovers and patron we were saddened by the sudden closure of Motorino Pizza Philippines after serving the local market for nearly 10 years.
Motorino, known for its Neapolitan-style, wood-oven-cooked pizza, closed quietly. It served customers for the last time on Dec. 31, 2023.
The management only announced the closure of all its branches in the Philippines on January 1.
“Grateful for nearly a decade of serving ‘New York’s Best Pizza’ Neapolitan-style in Manila, we’ve reached the end of our journey, having served our last pizza on December 31, 2023,” it said.
Motorino also expressed its gratitude to its loyal customers.
“As of today, January 1, 2024, we close our doors with deep gratitude for your patronage. Grazie for being an integral part of our journey. Ciao!” it said.
In the graphic accompanying the post, Motorino also said that it “cherished unforgettable dining moments” in its stores.
This advisory broke the hearts of both their new and regular diners.
“Wait lang!!! Wala ba kahit one more month para humabol?” an Instagram user said.
“Will Miss Motorino,” another Pinoy on Instagram said.
Others, meanwhile, thanked the pizzeria for their quality food over the years.
“Thank you for serving us great pizzas!” a Facebook user said.
In an interview with Spot.ph, Motorino Philippines owner Eugene Lorenzana said that their decision to close stemmed from the changing taste of the Philippine market.
“There’s nothing to say, aside from we decided to close it,” Lorenzana was quoted in the report as saying.
“We just decided to close Motorino simply due to the different tastes and preferences of the market in the Philippines,” he also said.
Motorino Pizza opened its first branch in the Philippines in Greenbelt 3 Mall in 2014. It introduced and popularized the Neapolitan style of making pizzas to the local market.
The restaurant has since expanded to open four more locations—The Podium and Estancia in Ortigas Center, in Alabang Town Center, Bonifacio Global City, and Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
Motorino Pizza, meanwhile, has locations in New York City, Hong Kong, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur.
