A local restaurant’s pizza offering was named Pizza of the Year 2023 by online ranker 50 Top Pizza.
Makati-based Crosta Pizzeria snagged the prestigious recognition for its Cherry Culatello pie, beating other pizza iterations in the world.
Crosta Pizzeria was founded by restaurateur Ingga Cabangon Chua and her husband Thomas Woudwyk in 2015.
It started as a small stall at a food park in Makati City; now, it has become one of the city’s most popular pizza places.
50 Top Pizza, the esteemed online guide for the best pizzas and pizzerias in the world, described Crosta Pizzeria’s Cherry Culatello pie as: “Culatello, Black Tasmanian Cherries marinated in Marsala, Gorgonzola cream, Mozzarella, and Balsamic Vinegar.”
The establishment also landed in 54th place on the 50 Top Pizza World 2023 list.
The global ranker said Crosta Pizzeria is “warm and welcoming.”
“The warm and welcoming atmosphere immediately puts customers at ease. The styles of pizza offered are different and all of excellent quality, with great attention to leavening and the digestibility of the product.”
On Instagram, the Crosta Pizzeria management expressed how proud they are to receive this international award.
“The 50 Top Pizza World 2023 awarded our CHERRY CULATELLO pie the highest honor, as it was recognized as the best of the best amongst pizzerias from all across the globe,” the post reads.
“We also landed in the 54th spot and we couldn’t be prouder to raise the Philippine flag amongst talents from North and South America, Europe, Africa and, of course, Asia-Pacific,” it added.
“This was truly a night to remember,” they further said.

Another local restaurant, a mano Philippines, also made it to 50 Top Pizza’s list
Located in Rockwell, Makati City, a mano landed in 96th place in the world ranking and 15th place across Asia.
On the website, here is how 50 Top Pizza introduced the Italian restaurant to its readers:
“Pizza, pasta, risotto, and ice cream, all prepared with mastery to bring the best of Italian gastronomic culture to the table. On Instagram, executives from a mano also expressed gratitude to the awards body for bestowing them this recognition.
