It’s that time of that year again for the television industry.
The 2022 Emmy Awards will kick off on September 13 at 8 a.m. (Philippine time) and Filipinos have the opportunity to watch it live from the comforts of their home.
The 74th Primetime Emmys will be staged at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, where small screen stars will congregate for their big moment.
It will be hosted by “Saturday Night Live’s” longest-running cast member, Kenan Thompson.
Frontrunners for the Emmys are “Squid Game,” “Stranger Things” and “Euphoria,” as well as Lionsgate Play’s “Gaslit,” which has four nominations.
“Gaslit” centers around the lesser-known characters that took part in the 1970s Watergate scandal, a major political controversy in the United States which led to the only American president resigning in history.
The political docudrama stars Julia Roberts and Sean Penn.
It has bagged four Emmy nominations, namely:
- Outstanding Cinematography For A Limited Or Anthology Series
- Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Limited Or Anthology Series
- Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Limited Or Anthology Series
Fantasy-comedy show “Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas,” another Lionsgate Play offering, also received nominations for Outstanding Television Movie and Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming.
It stars Jane Levy and Skylar Astin.
Filipinos can watch the Emmy-nominated shows and the live broadcast of awarding ceremony itself on Lionsgate Play with their PLDT Home Fiber connection.
New and existing subscribers can enjoy Lionsgate Play’s free offerings until June 1, 2023, by creating an account and redeeming their vouchers at PLDT Home’s website.
