The stars of “Aquaman” are headed to Manila in December 2018 in time for the much-awaited premiere of DC Films’ next superhero blockbuster.

Manila has the honor of being the only Southeast Asian city in Warner Bros.’ eight-city global tour leading up to the worldwide premiere in December 2018.

Jason Momoa, who plays the titular Aquaman will be joined by co-star Amber Heard, who plays his love interest Mera and director James Wan for the Asian premiere of the film on December 11. A fan event for the premiere has also been announced but the venue has yet to be finalized.

News of the Aquaman cast touching down in Manila has created some buzz among fans.

First introduced in 2017’s “Justice League,” news of Aquaman getting his own live-action movie was met with largely positive response from both loyal comic book afficionados and casual movie fans. There are reports of its test screening in parts of the U.S yielding positive reviews from fans and critics.

Momoa will be reprising the role of Arthur Curry a.k.a Aquaman, the long-lost heir to the throne of Atlantis who is forced to return to his underwater homeland and claim his birthright after the threat of war emerges.

In the comics, Aquaman was one of the founding members of the original Justice League. While his superpower of being able to talk to fish has been derided by some comic book fans, later stories show him displaying his combat prowess when out of the water.
