In a video message posted on her social media accounts, legendary Canadian singer Celine Dion announced that she will be touring the Asia Pacific region from June to August.
“New year, new tour! I am thrilled to announce I’ll be touring the Asia-Pacific region this summer and I can’t wait to perform for you…I’ll be back in Tokyo and Macao after 10 years, and I will also have the pleasure to visit for the first time ever Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei, Manila and Bangkok!,” she posted on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram early Friday morning, Manila time.
A tour schedule was also posted on Dion’s website which showed that the 48-year-old hitmaking chanteuse will perform in Manila on July 19 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The Manila concert will be presented by AEG Presents and Ovation Productions.
Dion was actually supposed to embark on an Asian tour in 2014 that consisted of announced dates in Japan and the Philippines plus rumored performances in other cities in the region. However, she cancelled the tour before it could even start as she expressed her desire to take care of her ailing husband, René Angélil who was suffering from throat cancer and passed away two years later.
One of the most immediately recognized, widely respected and successful performers in pop music history, Dion has sold almost 250 million albums during her over 30-year career and is best known for hit songs like “If You Asked Me To,” “The Power of Love,” “Because You Loved Me,” “It’s All Coming Back to Me,” “All By Myself,” “My Heart Will Go On,” “I’m Your Angel,” and “That’s The Way It Is.”
She has earned five Grammy Awards, two Academy Awards and seven American Music Awards. In 2004, Dion received the Diamond award at the World Music Awards recognizing her status as the best-selling female artist of all time. In 2016, the Billboard Music Awards presented her with the lifetime achievement Icon Award.
She continues to break records with her ongoing Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace which has played over 1,000 shows to more than four million fans.
Tickets for her Manila show will go on sale to the public beginning January 18 at 10AM. Members of TeamCeline will have access to purchase tickets before the public through an advance pre-sale from 16 January to 17 January. For tickets and information visit celinedion.com and smtickets.com.
