“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” premiered in cinemas this week and people are saying that this could be the one of the best Star Wars episodes ever, next to “The Empire Strikes back,” which was shown close to two decades ago.

If you haven’t rushed to the cinemas to see this film yet, we give you five reasons to book movie tickets immediately.

1. It brings together throwback characters from a galaxy far, far away.
“The Last Jedi” brings together your favorite characters from the early Star Wars films, such as Princess-turned-General Leia and C3PO, Luke Skywalker and R2D2—and more! It explains where Luke Skywalker has been all those years, and why he suddenly disappeared—among other things.

2. It brings much awaited character development to a new set of heroes even as it pays homage to well-loved figures.
In “The Force Awakens,” a new set of characters—Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, Poe—were introduced, but very little of who they are were explored in the film. “The Last Jedi” goes deeper into these personalities and their motivations, and sheds light on how each of them contributes to the Star Wars legacy.

3.Gripping fight scenes and spectacular battle sequences.
Every Star Wars fan will always have room for a lightsaber duel or two, most especially if it’s as intense and craftily choreographed as the ones in “The Last Jedi.”

If lightsabers get you excited, imagine what could happen between the Resistance and the First Order, and what their fightercrafts can do.

4. The force is strong on this one.
It’s always fascinating to see how the force connects people and how powerful it can be.

5. This could be the last film you’d ever see Leia Organa kick ass.
When actress Carrie Fisher, who plays General Leia, died in December 2016, “The Last Jedi” was already in post-production so there was no need for writer and director Rian Johnson to change anything in the script.

However, we don’t know what will happen to Leia in the next Star Wars episode, given Carrie Fisher’s untimely death. We don’t even know if we’ll see her again so we might as well enjoy her screentime while it’s available.

In keeping with the the Star Wars fever, SM Cinemas brings you life-size replicas of Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer and the Rebel Alliance’s X-Wing.

The TIE Silencer will be on display at the activity center of the SM Mall of Asia until January 8, while the X-Wing will be atthe SM Seaside City Cebu until January 21, 2018.
