Without disclosing any details, singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla has confirmed that her wedding with hr fiancé, architect Conrad Onglao, will push through. She and Conrad have agreed to elope, which means that the ceremony will be a closed-door affair.
In an interview with Interaksyon during the press conference for her latest film, “Bes and the Beshies,” Zsa Zsa admitted that Conrad initially wanted a grand wedding, but she nixed the idea. She also explained why she prefers a secret wedding over a well-planned festive celebration.
“Sabi ko pagbigyan mo na lang ako, gusto ko tahimik lang talaga. For me ha, it’s more of the solemnity and us just being husband and wife.
“I feel kasi if I plan it, parang hindi ko na talaga ma-feel eh. I don’t know if it’s an age thing for me or not. Kasi sabi ko nga, kasi tabi ko si Ai Ai kanina and she’s planning her dream wedding. So sabi ko, wala na sa akin yun eh — para sa akin, ha,” she said.
It can be remembered that the couple parted for several months last year, but – after an accidental meeting — were back in each other’s arms again before the year ended.
When Conrad courted her again after their breakup, Zsa Zsa wasn’t easily swayed by his efforts. She recalls, “Actually in the beginning, I was so determined. Kasi lahat ng padala niya, bulaklak, tinatapon ko. I was so mad. I guess I realized that there were some issues that I wanted resolved also, so I wanted to give us a chance.”
“Remember the time that we were apart for six months I didn’t date anyone, because I wasn’t there. I wasn’t looking for someone else. Yun siguro yung malaking factor kung bakit kami nagkabalikan, kasi walang iba. Sabi ko, siguro maayos pa. Siguro maaayos pa yung mga bagay na we disagree on.”
Zsa Zsa’s reason for reconciling with Conrad was plain and simple.
“I realized later on when I saw him that I still loved him. And when I was talking to him, we [decided we] were ready to make the commitment to make some changes,” she said.
It wasn’t easy, and there were many adjustments. “Even when we got together, it was still volatile, I have to admit. Kasi ang dami pa ding past issues eh.”
Zsa Zsa underwent about 10 months of healing therapy to help her get past her issues. She had to make a lot of changes from within, and to learn to let go.
“Ang pinakaimportante pa na kailangan ko matutunan, to forgive and forget. I realized when I spoke to my friends, I think it’s a woman thing, I don’t know with you guys. Parang ang tagal kong makalimot sa mga issues ko, parang binabalik-balikan ko lagi. And I realized na for it to work, kailangan talaga, forgive, forget.”
“Mahilig ako mag-refer sa nangyari na because of my curiosity. I have to know why, why, why. I have to know why you did this. I have to understand. What works for me now is that I have made a set of rules for myself. Number one is do not refer to the past because past is past,” she said.
