Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion are again making headlines.

But it’s not because their long-awaited reunion movie is finally happening. The former onscreen and off-screen couple have reacted to their respective mentions in a recent speech by President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a speech delivered last Tuesday on the occasion of the Department of Justice anniversary, the president revealed that her daughter and now Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte was actually a fan of the actress dubbed as the Megastar.

As Duterte recalled it, he asked his daughter what she wanted on her birthday when she was still in grade school.

“Sabi niya ‘gusto ko magkasama kami ni Sharon Cuneta (she said she wanted to spend time with Sharon Cuneta)’,” the president shared.

So Duterte called Sharon’s husband, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, whom he called “his friend,” and said to him, “Senator, I owe for doing this [for] my daughter.”

After learning about her special mention, a very flattered Sharon took to Facebook and posted, “(All politics aside — into which I have unfortunately been dragged by mere association to my Senator-hubby’s work:) ‪Thank you, Mr. President Duterte, Sir, for what you said on the news about me and my friend Mayor Inday Sara last night. May God bless you, Sir! (So “kilig!” Might be an inappropriate word, everyone –but hey – it’s how I feel!),” she wrote.‬

Sharon’s ex-husband, Gabby Concepcion, with whom she made several blockbuster movies, was also mentioned in the same speech by Duterte — but only by mistake.

In another one of this tirades against the Kapamilya network, Duterte lashed out at Lopez for not airing his election ad campaign for the 2016 presidential election even though the ad has been paid for.

Only Duterte initially mentioned Gabby Concepcion’s name instead of Gabby Lopez. He later correctly referred to Lopez in the latter part of his speech.

When the actor learned about his special mention, he took it as an opportunity to promote his GMA teleserye, “Ika-6 na Utos” while good naturedly correcting the president.

In one of the posts, Gabby referred to his character and current status in the series.

In another, he thanked the president for watching the show.
