Coke Studio hits the road with recording studio on wheels

The support for the local music scene has increased in the past few years. With the support it is getting, the buzz has become even noisier, more vibrant, and more exciting. With a whole lot of love going around for the old and newer artists, suffice to say that OPM is definitely back.

Coke Studio, the newest and most talked about asset of beverage giant Coca-Cola, is one of the biggest reasons why OPM has been gaining a major momentum in the past few months.

The first of its kind in the country, Coke Studio – the unique music program shown on TV5 every Saturday at 7PM – highlights the rich diversity of OPM at the same time, using music as the universal language to connect with Filipino teens.

It brings the viewer the real thing; giving a first-hand, front-seat view of the musical journey of how each artist bares their soul through performance as well as the journey towards a great collaboration.

Even if the Philippines is a massively diverse archipelago, OPM is enjoyed in each of our 7,107 islands. Recognizing this, Coke is pioneering a nationwide spectacle through the Coke Studio Roadshow.

Coke will make use of a Coke Studio Truck, a studio on wheels especially designed to deliver the best live OPM performances to fans across the nation. It comes with a complete recording studio set-up where the artists can jam, perform and mix music in its very own control room.

Coke Studio is displaying the richness and diversity of OPM, beyond the love songs and ballads that the Philippines is known for. Each Coke Studio Truck stop becomes a pop-up musical experience. Artists will perform their hits live and activities will be enjoyed alongside the local town’s own festival.

To make the Coke Studio experience even more unique, tour attractions or “Coke Studio Hotspots” will be mainstays in each Coke Truck stop. The Canraoke, Jukebox, and Coke Studio Shots provide all event goers with limited edition Coke branded items or personalized content.

For those who love to capture memories, Coke Studio is a must try for every fan. Just present two caps or crowns of Coke/Coke Light/Coke Zero and event goers receive a print out and an email copy of their Coke Studio photo.

On the other hand, for those who love collectors’ items and exclusive Coke memorabilia, the Coke Studio Jukebox is perfect for you. Simply present ten caps or crowns of Coke/Coke Light/Coke Zero for a one-of-a-kind Coke bottle, that you get to design yourself.

And finally, Pinoys, globally acknowledged to be crazy for karaoke, can try and conquer the Canraoke. Upon presenting three caps or crowns of Coke/Coke Light/Coke Zero, they get to sing a song of their choice at the Coke Canraoke booth. Their performance is recorded and emailed immediately. This is perfect for sharing on social media.

The Coke Studio Truck already hit the pavement to reach OPM fans around the country with the launch at SM MOA last July 29. The tour then headed north last August 12, where fans witnessed Jensen and the Flips and Moonstar 88 at SM Pampanga.

The third stop was September 12 at Naga City for the Peñafrancia Festival wherein OPM icon Sandwich and rising star BP Valenzuela took centerstage.

Who knows? Maybe the Coke Studio Truck will make a stop at a school or community square in your hometown soon.

Music fans nationwide can also enjoy the OPM fireworks at home. Coke Studio goes on-air on TV5, every Sunday at 7PM, with a fresh musical jam session to satisfy your OPM fix. Visit the Coke Studio channel on YouTube for more fresh, real OPM performances: youtube.com/CokeStudioPH.

Coke and OPM have a lot in common. Both are refreshing experiences worth sharing and the Coke Roadshow promises that every Filipino has a taste of both.
