Streaming Video On Demand (SVOD) entertainment continues to influence the preferences of the viewing public, and one key player in this arena is iFlix.
iFlix introduces its Channels feature, which allows users to select and stream content based on the film studios or TV channels that produced the shows, or based on one’s genre preferences. This new interface makes it easier for users to navigate the platform and choose content that is more attuned to their tastes.
iFlix’s Channels was launched via an interactive, immersive event at Unit 27 in Bonifacio Global City. Members of the press were given a tour of themed rooms inspired by some of their iFlix’s featured TV shows and films.
There was a “Frozen” themed room, a section inspired by another Disney favorite, “UP,” as well as a room inspired by the hit Korean series “Goblin.” A darkened room took its cue from the Pinoy teen horror flick “Bloody Crayons” while one of the bigger sections on the top floor was dedicated to Marvel.
iFlix is known for championing regional and local content, so aside from content from Disney, Marvel, and other international brands, one can access films and TV shows that are closer to their hearts and homes, in their own branded respective channels.
Head of Content and Operations Georgette Tengco explains, “We want to be that SVOD provider that offers everything in one app. When you subscribe to iFlix, you will get not just Hollywood content, not just international content, but you’ll get regional content in the likes of Korean, Japanese; we even have Thai content. And of course you’ll get local content. We even have indies, we have a lot of indies.”
Aside from its impressive catalog of locally produced Filipino independent films, iFlix now boasts of movies from Star Cinema; teleseryes like “Encantadia” and “Mara Clara;” the best of Korean entertainment from tvN; and animated favorites from Aniplus. Of course, Disney and Marvel have their own channels as well.
iFlix is going one step further in the name of local content. “Very, very soon, because we are going hyperlocal, we will be introducing our own locally produced content also,” Tengo shared.
Having a regularly updated catalog is essential to the Channels experience.
“The reason for all of this content and all of these partnerships is because we are responding to the taste of the Filipino consumer of iFlix. We realized that iFlix users have a very wide range of interests in terms of content and how they consume content. And so we want to make that content available,” said Tengco.
