Has John Lloyd Cruz found his heart in Santa Fe? Or did somebody break it again?
A recent rendezvous with Ellen Adarna and several friends on the increasingly famous tourist spot on Bantayan Island in Cebu not only saw the sought-after leading man having a good time and seemingly lovey dovey with the controversial Cebuana actress but also behaving rather strangely in what looked like a drunken stupor—at least based on photos and videos leaked on Instagram.
Smartphone videos of a seemingly inebriated John Lloyd went viral as netizens wondered what was going on with the 34-year-old actor.
The videos, apparently taken and posted by Ellen and their other companions on Instagram, were later picked up by various video bloggers and posted on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media networks and blog sites.
One of the videos shows John Lloyd wearing only shorts and sunglasses peeling what looked like garlic cloves. He then starts playing with a kitchen knife while exclaiming, “This is paradise,” as a woman not seen in the video screams when he drops it.
Another video shows him peeling an onion while Ellen was preparing paksiw na lechon as he calls her “Baby.”
A compilation of several more videos shows John Lloyd hiding behind Ellen during a boat ride as one of his hands is visible on her lap and almost near her waist. His head is also resting just beside her behind. Later, the actor and Ellen are also seen singing along to a karaoke machine in a video shot at nighttime.
After introducing a young man she calls her “stupid brother” and his “stupid girlfriend,” Ellen proceeded to train the camera on John Lloyd who spits whatever he was eating on it.
But probably the most controversial among the videos is the one of John Lloyd wearing only his pajamas fooling around in a dirty kitchen at about the same time Ellen is preparing the lechon. In a yoga sitting position, the actor dances to the music and flashes the dirty finger. He also sits behind two LPG cylinders.
John Lloyd is obviously aware that he is being recorded in most, if not all, of the videos but whether or not he is fine with them becoming public remains to be seen.
While there was nothing surprising about Ellen’s behavior as the actress has always been known for her carefree antics, many netizens were shocked to see John Lloyd in the videos. The actor, who started his career as a boy next door matinee idol, has always been known for his wholesome image despite well-publicized relationships with actresses like Angelica Panganiban, Shaina Magdayao and Ruffa Gutierrez that were not without their share of controversies.
His association with Ellen, his co-star in the sitcom “Home Sweetie Home,” dates back to February this year when they were spotted together at a posh hotel in Mandaluyong City. At right around the same time, they were again together along with other friends in Currimao, Ilocos Norte as seen from photos posted by Ellen on Instagram at the time.
Ellen has repeatedly denied that she and John Lloyd are in a relationship but revealed in a recent ABS-CBN interview that the actor is “not yet ready” and, like her, has “a lot of drama in his life.”
John Lloyd has not publicly commented about being romantically linked to Ellen.
